Shell eco-marathon category winners

The Shell Eco-Marathon started as an intercompany challenge amongst engineers in the Shell Corporation during 1985. The competition has since become a truly global challenge, with races in America, Europe and Asia, along with qualifying races all over the globe, including South Africa, Turkey, Brazil and Le Mans France. The first competitions focused purely on the distance the ultra-light vehicle could travel on one litre of petrol. Today, the competition has added many modern energy categories to the challenge, including internal combustion, battery electric, and hydrogen fuel cells. Having placed first in the hydrogen fuel cell category at South Africa’s 2017 and 2019 Shell-Eco Marathon. Our goal has become to replicate this victory at the European Shell-Eco Marathon. This will be done by building a new chassis that is fully optimized for a hydrogen fuel cell with a carbon fibre shell, lightweight parts and going fully autonomous.
